Surface tension Empty Surface tension

Hey guys,
I wanted to see if anyone had tried adding anything to the water that is being pumped (i.e. soap or salt) to increase/ decrease surface tension of the water. It seems to me that this increase/ decrease of surface tension could give more flexibility with the nozzle velocity (get higher/ further streams).

If you check out http://www.sscentral.org/ there is talk about adding Glycerine to the water supply to do exactly what you are talking about.
I think Magic Nozzle used some sort of "oil" in the past but no longer does that.
I do not feel there is the need to enhance the water if you have a well built fountain, adequate water supply and the appropriate GPM out of
you pump.

I agree with Covewi, there really is no reason that you can't obtain the arc you desire. However, I have not heard the glycerin idea before. Magic Nozzle just used the oil/or whatever just to have something the light would refract off of. It was a lighting issues, and not a laminar jet issue.
