Shorter or longer straws...

Hi Everyone,

Doing a bit of experimentation with my nozzle, and I am wondering if the length of the straws will help much. I have the option to use 11 inch long straws (currently using or cut down my current straws. I noticed that Zach on Youtube is using much shorter straws, about 4 inches.

I am wondering if the water 'sticks' to the walls of the straws and swirls around the edges, in which case, the shorter the better.

Not sure which is best, what shall I try first?

My Nozzle length is almost 12 inch and its of 6" dia pipe i have shorten the straw from 11" to 7" length because to install the filters at the top and bottom of the straws. My straws inner dia is about 3mm.
Nozzle seems working fine to me. Soon i will post a video.

I cut the 7 inch straws down to 3.5 inches and here is how my fountain is now laid out. This now allows me about 6 inches above the top plate to
fit in a cutter mechanism without adding an extension.

Another benefit of knowing this is that we can make short (12") long laminar fountains that are 8 inches in diameter.

I am very happy - the attached photo is a stream 11 feet in length and 4.5 feet high.
So cutting the straws length in half has NOT effected the laminar flow.
