Which LEDs to use?
I have been wanting to build one of these jets for years. I just found this forum this weekend while surfing. I have already bought some materials to get started. Even though lighting the jet is the last thing to do, it seems the hardest to find information on.
I found someones pictures of a 40 Watt LedEngin RGB that he had mounted on a computer heatsink conplete with cooling fan. I did not bookmark the location. Does anyone know where that is posted? It looks like a simple solution with only one fiber to deal with.
Is the current trend to go with a single RGB LED or stay with the single colors and 3 fiber cables?
Any opinion on the Luxeon star vs rebel if single LEDs are the way to go.

I don't know where the posts are, but i believe is was posted by covewi. I do know that he was used this led. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/LedEngin/LZC-80MC40/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvhYeUvBGikDG30hqEYoP%2fu
It seems like a really good, and BRIGHT solution. I think this is the way to go instead of 3 separate leds. I think a lot of the 3 separate emitters are being discontinued anyway. You might want to look at optical plastic for the rod (instead of fiber optics).

Thanks John,
I am not familier with optical plastic. Is it different from acrylic rod or a special type? Any links?

Re: Which LEDs to use?
yeah, I couldn't think of the word last night. Acrylic. I think cast acrylic is better than extruded as far as clarity.
