Submerging Technologies
Greetings All!
I've been thinking about sponsoring a DIY club at a local school, and thought it might be fun to do some interactive fountain projects. One thought was to do some laminar water jets with the kids, and looking around, I ran across this forum. It's great to see so many people interested in this!
I'm an electrical engineer by trade (i.e. an "electron plumber"), but I have had the opportunity to dabble a bit with interactive fountains. My contribution in this area was a project called "Submerging Technologies" which we exhibited at SIGGRAPH 2006. Here's a link to the project website at my former employer:
https://www.merl.com/projects/submerging/
Basically, there were 3 pieces:
The Tantalus Fountain which withdraws from the hand
The AquaHarp which was a liquid musical harp
The TouchPond which was a liquid touch screen
Here's a short video showing early prototype versions (the real ones were considerably nicer, but I don't have a good video of those):
Anyhow, let me know what you think!
