DMX stepper motor
So, I've been reading up on DMX and am starting to get really confused. If someone can give me a rundown of the basics of DMX that would be very helpful.

I learned a great deal.
The Christmas light crowd is way ahead of us on controlling electronics, servos, lights etc.
If you check out these posts I started to share some of what I am doing - https://laminar.forumotion.com/laminar-nozzle-talk-and-pictures-f1/my-project-t72-90.htm
Let me know if I can be of any help - I am still learning myself.

Re: DMX stepper motor
If I read this right, it looks like DMX512 is really just RS-485 communication with specified data rates and packet structure.
So it actually probably wouldn't be that hard to implement your own DMX controller and slave devices with PIC chips since they have a built in hardware library for RS-485. Does anyone know if this is true and really that easy?

Check the post / photos at the bottom of this page

It talks about and shows the DMX board and software I am starting to use.
