World smalles Jumping Laminar Jet (project) :)
Check out what I did make today..
I was thinking about if it`s possible to make everything smaller..
And yes it was.
here is the video:
My idea is that it must be allot more easy to make errors and mistakes on a smaller scale, instead of using the full size !
What I going to make now is a cutter, light, and who knows what other experience I can add to this
If I find something decent to have this in, I think I will make 2 of this jets, and have them on my living room.

Small fountains are great for an indoor water feature and the size of your looks just about right.

That's looks great! It's hard to tell the scale of everything, but if you used coffee stir straws you'd be able to shrink it more. I think. What is the output size?
Re: World smalles Jumping Laminar Jet (project) :)
it`s hard to tell the size from the video...
But the output is 5mm (0.016")
And it`s a small 12volt pump from my old PC-water cooling system.
The beam is about 2" up, and maybe 3-4" long throw..
I think I will try to make a small cutter, but not so sure if it will work.
Because the cutter is so big in size, so the water will maybe not manage to jump over everything haha

Here is an update.
Have added light, and sealed everything with silicone.
and a video:
I think I will make a tiny water Jet fountain to have indoor..
You cant believe how fun it is to watch this nice clear water flowing in a bow, and the most funny thing: it`s NO sound at all

Re: World smalles Jumping Laminar Jet (project) :)
awesome, are you using a knocker solenoid to reproduce the light pulses?
Re: World smalles Jumping Laminar Jet (project) :)
Hey Man, Looks cool! I also was thinking about building one for the living room, a small one between the plants. How did you mount the light in? A LED? Yes i think. Knocking is doing by Hand, right?
But looks cool, really, i am impressed. To have a huge light effect, just pouring a little bit of milk in the water

I think I will try to use a solenoid as a knocker..
But I had a better idea, why not just use a vibrator ?
A small el-motor with a iron core on the top (that shake it) !
Then you can decide how long you want your wave to be.. any input?
But yes I use my hand at this moment..
Milk you say... hmm smart.
But I guess it will be a damn smell after some while haha.
I have some computer liquid that have a tiny bit of fluoricent color in it.
If I use that + some UV led, i think the effect will be awsome

The First Knocker i build was a motor with a iron core on the top. But don t ask me what was the problem of it, not strong enough? Too strong? Can't remember, was last year. Also a cool solution is to use a loudspeaker, mounted in the nozzle, then you can play music and have light effects. This really works.
Just something Funny happens today:
Today i was working on the Cutter, but not for long, i made a short circuit on the 12V 2200maH LI-IO Hi Power Battery(Lithium Ions) Battery, coast 120$ and makes Burst of 40 A at 12V. You cant imagine what was going on. Short circuit, ok.. don't panic, but then the thing was starting to glowing, smoke from everywhere, i smash this thing out the window.. ohh my God. it was burning and smoking. The whole neighborhood was turning into a Mist. i run in the kitchen get water, run out in the garden spill the water, ohh shit more flames ... After 4 to 5 Min it stops burning .. ohh now my Battery i using for Flying my Remote helicopter was Fucked up completely. Ohh yes, its funny experimenting!
And Yes, This was my LIPO Battery!

very cool, I like the small indoor idea... A few questions:
- are the end caps glued on or just part of the tube, I like the clear look?
- for the nozzle did you just drill a hole and countersink it at 45 degrees?
- one of the mysteries to me so far is figuring out what people are using for
the baffle material, I have seen scubbing pads, sanding pads and yours looks
like some kind of fiberglass mesh?
- how do you keep the straws in place, looks like you didn't use anything
but it seems that a screen is the usual choice?
Thanks Ken

Hi Ken.
I have cutted a 1.5ltr Coca Cola bottle in half
And on the top I cut a Lexan\Plexiglas that I glued with silicone.
And yes I just drilled a hole , then I took a drill that is cone and make it 45degrees (somewhere close) !
I dont know what baffle is (?) but are you thinking about the mesh that is on the bottom?
I have used something like this :
I cut it in a circle, and placed it in the bottom (i now need to buy a new one before my GF make dinner lol)
I dont have anything that hold the straws on place..
I just put them tight inside, so they hold them self on place.
But a reminder: when thing WORK , dont fuck it up
I wanted to drill my hole better, so I use a knife to sharpen the edge, and not everything is totally broken haha..
The water is splashing everywhere, and the top is broken!
So you understand how PERFECT everything need to be, so the water stays laminar all the way :-)
Mario: DONT mess with a LiPo battery !!!
I also have helicopter with 4400mAh LiPo battery, and I have more respect over my LiPo battery then I have for my Mother haha
They are real dangerous !
When they start to burn, just put a steel pot over it..
Because water will NOT help

What you fly helicopter too? Cool man, I stun about your creativity building the small Nozzle. Amazing.

Re: World smalles Jumping Laminar Jet (project) :)
Like I said earlier it would be really funny to see all of our mess ups on video. I've done a number of stupid things while working on this project.
Re: World smalles Jumping Laminar Jet (project) :)
Yes Mario, I fly a small double rotor Lama V4 indoor (pratice in winter) !
And outside I fly a Blade CP pro 3D
I try to learn a loop, but not easy...
I also have 2 other Trex with belt drive tail, but they are in parts.. I want to sell them!
And thank you, the small laminar did I make one afternoon on the kitchen while I wait for my straws, and the brass rings
I love to do some small project.... I always need to "do" something
John, Oh yea it would be nice to have every mistake on tape haha ... (maybe not?)

Re: World smalles Jumping Laminar Jet (project) :)
No! I cant believe it. I have too a Blade CP pro (Was my First heli), modded with 2 brushless motors, Gyro, new Reciever, new Controller and a lot of aluminum Parts. A cool Helicopter when modded. I use a Futaba FF7. The Big one is a Protech Zomm 450 (belt driven), with a 80 cm Rotor, also a 3D machine. But i am am a little afraid to fly real 3d, if i mess up the machine, cost every time a lot of money. Ohh Trex, i think you have a 600 model (because the big battery), cool! I really would love to have a Trex, but at the moment i cant spend more money in this hobby, first i like to finish my Nozzle Project, but maybe later, i ask you again about the T-rex. I learned a lot from a testing software, i use the Reflex to learn on the computer.
