Hello From Florida... 1st time build
Hi... So glad I've found this site... Spent the last few weeks lurking here, youtube, and google to get the basics of a diy laminar nozzle...
So far I can only project a laminar stream about 5ft - the water pressure will go about 35ft.
6" build, foam base, screen, full-size straws, screen, 3" gap and flat top and using a washer for a tip on the inside.
How can I get more than a 5ft stream - anything larger starts to break-up at the end and get worse the larger I go.... Kinda cool how Sants'a nose and eyes look in the stream.... This is using my water hose as a supply
Your thoughts?

Re: Hello From Florida... 1st time build
Hi there and welcome
That is great, the washers you use is a clever way to have the output.
I did also use that for my first tests !
But the best if you can find someone with a lathe to build you a razor sharp brass ring and replace the washer.
You will notice big difference in the sharper and more clear output of the water
But your result seems next to the best you can get
I like the Santa haha

Re: Hello From Florida... 1st time build
Thanks! I just sent over a request for (4) of John's finest... I have read how you prefer the 8" plus tubes, and I agree.... My problem is I have scrap 6" and I bought 'flat' caps for that size. I hope to get an 6X8 or even 10ft arc. If I cant, I can get my hands on some 10" pipe, but that drives up the cost....

I just sent the nozzles today! John's finest! LOL They really are going to help though.
That is the problem with the larger the tubing the better the results, but more problems with keeping the costs down. It's a fine balance between getting the best results, and getting it cheap.

Re: Hello From Florida... 1st time build
So....... I got em' and one thing or another has gotten in the way.... I've used Foam, straws, scrtch-bight, pond filter, and mesh screens.... I cannot get a laminar stream greater than 5' or 6'. As you can see in this pic, I'm using a .5" nozzle from John and the stream vanishes on impact to the water, but I can get much bigger.... I need to double if not triple this height and distance. Do I need to give up on the 6" tube?

Yeah, I think it's time to upgrade. It think you'll be able to get double that with an 8" pipe, but triple might be pushing the limits.
Re: Hello From Florida... 1st time build
Okay... I'll buy into the 8" pipe and build one.... I got a little ahead of myself and went deeper into 6" than should have... Hmmm... I can always use it in another area

Re: Hello From Florida... 1st time build
well..... I may have gotten carried away.... The guy had 6,8,10,12-36" tube.... He charged me $2 per foot. I chop cut it and drove off with 8' of 12" pipe... I'm going to mock up (1) and post my trial and error.... These are about 27"X12" ID
