Re: My project build thread...
Hi Scrafy,
Im having a few issues with that end of the nozzle. I have got a rather ugly and awkward setup holding the nozzle at the moment so its quite hard to make adjustments, and as with any new designs, it needs tweaking. At the moment I can get a clean entry in to the water if the arch is short, but im not getting the distance I need just yet. I know its capable of it, its just a case of fiddling with the setup to see what works.
I am using ribbed rubber hose, and I notice everyone else with successful jets are using smoothbore tube. I am thinking maybe the ribs in the tube is introducing some kind of vibration in the water as it travels into the jet.... I am going to replace all my hose for smoothbore on Monday and will see how or if this helps.
Pete.

Re: My project build thread...
I just did a test of the fibre. Before I used up all my PMMA and stainless on the real one, I cut six inches of stainless tube off and did a little test run with offcuts of fibre. My plan worked rather well im pleased to say, and I have now got a stainless tube with four fibres in the end, held straight, still and absolutely water tight. Also looks really cool.
Polished the ends with a dremel and toothpaste. Kind of hard to take a photo but heres one anyway. The fibres are not quite aligned properly, there are bigger gaps and smaller gaps, but its only a test run.
The centre core piece is a 2 inch bit of PMMA which I pushed all the way down to hold the fibres in place.
Held the four ends of the fibre up to the computer monitor to put some light down them.

Another nice addition to the jet...!! I'm not yet worried about lighting, but hope to be soon and will learn from this site.

Re: My project build thread...
Realised that the four jets at the edges of the tube is a bad idea, as it puts the fibres outside the water stream, which wont be a good thing. I have re jigged so that the fibres are in the middle, and I think I am only going to put three fibres down, although I have noticed that some people use two blues. I will take a risk and run three fibres for RGB.
Might have to wire cut an aluminium plug or something that goes in the tube that positions the three fibres. Will have to think about it.

Re: My project build thread...
Hi great work.... Really looking neat and great... i have also made the laminar fountain from 6" pipe. It really looks great.
Re: My project build thread...
Hi Everyone,
Been a bit quiet recently, been finishing off the pond and other projects, but I have now set the jet up with the old pond as a test tank. Its working OK, but the laminarity (is that even a word...?) drops off after the top of the jet.
Will continue working.
Have begun initial testing of the cutter mechanism.
