World's first PRINTED Laminar Jet (and smallest jet record broken by accident)
As it's been -10C below for the last few weeks, I decided to design and build a laminar jet for an indoor water feature to get my laminar fix. To my knowledge, this is the world's first printed laminar and it's 34mm high and 33mm wide, so I've accidentally broken the world's smallest.
This is printed in ABS plastic using a 3D printer. It's similar to a pentair type design. The pump and low pass filter were also printed.
The pump design credits to Skimbal.
The low pass filter has 1 part, what you see, i.e. it's printed with the cavity inside. The nozzle has a few parts, and the screens are printed too.
The only extras were some tubing, one washer for the nozzle, a motor extracted from an old CD drive and some duct tape (final version will be duct tape free).
Final mods will be LED lighting, cutter and a stand, then I'll upload the design for anybody who has a 3D printer or knows someone with one. Meanwhile I had to post this :-)
UPDATE: RGB LED added, see later post on this thread.

That's pretty stellar! Great use of printed material! You should submit this to Bree Pettis, and Makerbot as well as Make Magazine!
wow
Jetty, every time I read one of your posts I'm amazed. Congratulations!!

RGB LED added.
Thanks. I'll be posting it on Thingiverse, and I'll let Make Magazine know too at the same time.
Check this out. I've added a regular RGB LED to the nozzle. For a change, no 40W led's, heatsinks or fiber optic required :-) . Here's the vid, notice the blue glow where the stream hits the water. The nozzle is Nuclear green, I'm guessing "Transparent" would be a good color to print the nozzle in.
Forgive the poor picture quality, it was taken on an iPhone (not known for it's night performance).

This is a great work you have done there.

Did you post the 3D printer designs for this?
I have been trying to find a very small jet, and this appears to be the smallest that I have found so far.
Have you shared the plans? Where can I find them? Are there any particular specs regarding the 3D printer you used & material?
Thanks,
Branch
